"I work in a very modern job and I am a student here at the University of New Mexico. It’s very rare nowadays that we wear our traditional clothing. We wear our clothing mainly for ceremonial things and for social events, and so every time I have an opportunity to wear it, I feel powerful. It reminds me of my connection back to my people, back to my land, back to the beliefs that I am charged with the responsibility of protecting."

"I wanted to project who I am ultimately. At the very foundation of who I am and what motivates me is being Acoma and Laguna Pueblo. A Pueblo woman. And these clothes, when I wear them to go dance, that is why I do everything that I do. That’s where my heart is."

"Clothing, it just hasn’t been where I see my power coming from. It really comes from the family and my responsibility to my family, and my ancestry."
